Going out as a student

The good news: 71% of Madrid parties let you in at 18 and 342 have a free guest list. The classic student night is Thursday, and Moncloa and Argüelles are the areas with the biggest student scene.

If you are on Erasmus, there are 26 Erasmus and international parties on sale, many run by student associations.

How to party on a budget

Sign up for the free guest list and arrive before the cut-off time.
Buy in the first ticket tier: prices go up as tickets sell.
Pick tickets with a drink included: drinks inside cost much more.

Plan your way home: the metro closes at 1:30 and night buses leave from Cibeles.

Student areas

Moncloa and Argüelles are student areas, with a young crowd and university parties, near Plaza de España and Príncipe Pío. Nearby, the centre (Sol and Ópera) and Tetuán (Calle Orense) are the other two areas with the most parties for a young crowd.

Many student parties have a free guest list or very cheap tickets until a set time and get pricier after: arriving early is the easiest way to save.
